Senior Business Development Representative

Our client has an immediate opening for an experienced Business Development Representative.

This position is an inside sales position to market products and services to both C, E and V-level executives with the objective of setting sales appointments for Sales Managers.  The successful candidate has a proven track record of qualifying leads to assist in increasing of pipeline opportunities, through a combination of lead follow-up and prospecting activities.  This individual typically has at least 2 years of inside sales experience, has consistently demonstrated high performance relative to setting quality appointments and is experienced in engaging well-known retail brands.

As part of the Business Development Center the person in this role will:

  • Be responsible for the top of the sales funnel and moving high impact prospects from a lead to a qualified sales appointment
  • Cold call into retailers to gain information on their current email marketing business and set appointments for sales follow-up; communicate with senior level executives over the telephone
  • Contact prospect primarily through, but not limited to, phone calls; contact may also include email, webinars, GTM’s, Linked-In, mailings and other forms of communication.
  • Maintain longer term relationships with high potential prospects that are interested in Listrak solutions but may not meet the current/immediate qualification criteria
  • Identify and qualify opportunities for the  suite of solutions
  • Cultivate new qualified appointments through outbound cold calls
  • Follow up on all inbound responses in a timely fashion (within 1 business day)
  • Use and update daily to maintain sales console
  • Utilize and leverage other outbound calling tools/solutions
  • Work closely with  Sales Managers (including being present/engaging in discovery calls) with high impact prospects
  • Team with marketing and sales to follow up on all lead generation events
  • Maintain a satisfactory level of outbound calls to meet and exceed monthly and quarterly opportunity creation quota
  • Maintain a minimum daily call volume of 50 dials and/or a phone time of over 2.5-3 hours
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Can be called upon to recruit and coach BDC talent, especially individuals
  • Engages with BDC and Sales Ops teams on select strategic initiatives to advance BDC
  • Available to attend national conferences as needed
  • Must be able to reach and exceed set sales goals consistently
  • Ensure required reporting and communication to management is timely and complete
  • Research potential clients to determine best approach to reach an appointment




The following are the specific performance objectives for the position. In assessing competency and fit, the Senior Business Development Center candidates will be benchmarked against these standards:

  • Ability to leverage his/her own sales success to influence others on the team
  • Present credible phone sales presentations to C, E and V-level prospects (maintain own sales accountabilities while also coaching and influencing others on the BDC)
  • Demonstrates a high level of poise and professionalism and is seen by company leadership to lead by example
  • May assist in the training and development and onboarding of new BDC hires
  • Embraces/advocates new technology solutions and best practices to advance Listrak’s BDC



  • Minimum two years of inside sales or telemarketing experience, exceeding quotas positioning, setting sales appointments and selling software over the telephone
  • At least 2 years of BDC experience, has consistently demonstrated high performance relative to appointments and show rate and has a track record in working with prospects, Poised and professional and is known to “walk the walk” and lead by example within a team environment
  • Must understand how to deliver a compelling message to a business and/or marketing executive and leverage interest they create into a sales appointment
  • Strong ability to actively listen and determine customer’s needs
  • Works extremely well with others and is seen as a leader, expert and team player
  • Must be an analytical thinker who enjoys creative problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, discipline, attention to detail, high energy and a can do attitude, balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to understand technology and communicate its business value to prospects
  • Highly motivated, competitive, self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
  • High degree of confidence to interact with C and E-level executives


  • BS/BA degree or equivalent preferred in business marketing
  • Sales and lead development experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills are required, both written and oral.
  • Ability to establish qualified appointments for Sales managers successfully and consistently.
  • expert-level experience preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of professional experience required; minimum of 2 years of work experience in Listrak’s BDC or other technology-driven organization preferred.
  • Able to work independently with limited direction.  Action-oriented and willing to make decisions with limited information.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities.
  • Team player who works productively with wide range of people and personalities.  Strong aptitude for effective cross-functional collaboration and teaming. Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills.
