Senior SEO Specialist – Columbia, MD

We’re looking for you to be the CEO’s right-hand man (or woman). You need to be hardworking, dedicated, and passionate. You will be taking over, managing, and expanding existing client accounts. You will also be expected to contribute to the company’s growth and maturity in general. This entails:

1. Continually refining internal processes
2. Staying up-to-date on industry changes
3. Coordinating with potential partners or vendors
4. Locating and interviewing new hires
5. Training and educating team members
6. Doing what it takes to move the company to the next level

Since this is a start-up, the job responsibilities are not fixed in stone. There will be times when something unforeseen happens that we need you to handle. That’s where the idea of being a lieutenant comes in. Your primary responsibility is to be that person that gets it done, whatever it takes… and to do it in the best interest of all parties.


    • Serve as Chief Lieutenant & Director of Accounts
    • Manage/coordinate the day-to-day execution of multiple client accounts using skills in SEO/SEM, social media, and other internet marketing disciplines
    • Develop and implement strategic plans for certain clients
    • Communicate strategic plan to production teams on both marketing and development/creative sides of the house
    • Oversee implementation of plans
    • Running 6 and 9 month reviews of existing already completed campaigns
    • QA of deliverables generated by SEO team members
    • Presentation to clients
    • Educating clients on best practices
    • Create dramatic ROI and customer acquisition from natural search
    • Work with marketing team to facilitate and implement technology necessary to perform organic search goals
    • Implement any necessary third party technology necessary to achieve organic search objectives
    • Be able to conduct thorough keyword research using multiple tools, data mining, and raw search term analysis to build out and optimize natural search campaigns
    • Analyze and make recommendations around the competitive landscape, understanding your competitor’s tactics and how to use those tactics to your benefit
    • Review and analyze websites, identifying areas for improvement and change, relative to a websites organic performance in the search engines
    • Have a deep understanding of link strategies, link acquisition, link bait, link sculpting, and your link portfolio
    • Recommend optimizations for site architecture, URL/MOD rewrites, alternate directories, alternate domains, etc.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of analytical and tracking solutions enabling a multichannel understanding of measurement, keeping the predetermined goals and KPI’s in mind
    • Have a firm understanding of on page SEO, off-page SEO and technical SEO
    • Monitor results weekly, working with strategy team to continually refine and adjust approach, communicating changes to clients and executive team

      Secondary Responsibilities:

        • Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and tools
        • Create process and leadership around organic search efforts as continued growth occurs
        • Balance agency relationships with internal natural search campaigns
        • Serve as a Chief Lieutenant or the general “get it done” person
        • Understanding the color of your hat and your competitors hat


            • Must have strong SEO background (not entry-level)
            • 3+ years working as an SEO Manager, or SEO specialist, or similar role in which the primary responsibility was organic search. SEO work in a CPA, affiliate, or hyper-competitive vertical a definite plus
            • Deep understanding of Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Microsoft AdCenter, keyword tools, reporting tools, and a range of popular SEO tools
            • Use of social media and how Twitter and Facebook relate to SEO and their long-term impact on ranking algorithms
            • Strong understanding of Paid Search, direct-to-consumer business, affiliate marketing, CPA marketing, competitive/business environment and consumer behavior
            • In-depth understanding of the search engine ranking algorithms across multiple engines and how to leverage them
            • Firm grasp on directory based architecture and the use of sitemaps
            • Skills in HTML and CSS a plus
            • Expert MS Excel skills
            • Additional experience with Social Media and Affiliate Program Management preferred, but not required
